Just got back from our doctor's and am so excited to share that our baby is a beautiful GIRL! It just got even more real to me that we are having a baby.... a baby GIRL!

Half Baked = 20 Weeks

Man oh man... Where has the time gone?! This pregnancy is going by so quickly... but not fast enough (I'm anxious to meet our baby already!). It has hit me more that I am pregnant due to the size of my growing belly, feet and NOSE. The belly and feet part are as to be expected... but my nose. Ugh. Not so excited about that.

How far along? 20 weeks
Weight gain? 7 pounds. Ugh. Ugh.
Baby fruit size? Small Cantaloupe = 6.5 in crown to rump
Maternity clothes? Same ol' stuff. Leggings, self made maternity jeans and flowy tops. I probably should get some longer camis to wear under stuff soon or I'll be showin' off my awesome midriff to everyone.
Sleep? Sleep is so so nice. I like to sleep in on days that I can. Britney can sense something is up and has been my sleeping in buddy. She won't leave my side and likes to lay next to my belly.
Movement? Baby is moving around. Can't make out distinct kicks or punches yet but I can tell there's some kind of dance party going on in there.
Food cravings? The spicy kick is soooo over now. I am just hungry all the time now. If I don't have something in hand every 2 hours I get kinda cranky. In the mornings I like to eat something hearty and have been buggin' Sonny for pancakes. Lots and lots of PANCAKES!
Exercise: Got lots of Elliptical workouts in. I get tired after 30mins but I'm trying my hardest to make it to 40 - 45mins. I've been stretching more as well to get my body limber and ready. I think reading just the LABOR parts of my baby books have motivated me more to stay active. Supposedly labor really is labor and I wanna be ready for it.
Best moment this week? Making it to 20 weeks! We are half baked! I am really starting to love being pregnant. (Aside from the widening NOSE.. Ugh! Seriously!?)
What I'm looking forward to? We have an appointment this week so hopefully our baby will behave and show us it's goodies! We've tried seeing 2x already and both times the baby was being stubborn and crossing it's legs. Such a little future Gemini!!

Ringing In the New Year = 17 Weeks

Can it already be 2012? 2011 flew by so fast! I trust everyone had a wonderful time ringing in the New Year. This year one of my bestest friends decided to get married on New Year's Eve so we had a grand time partying it up. Well I did as best I could with my half a can of Diet Coke. Hollur.

How far along? 17 weeks
Weight gain? Ugh. 6 pounds. Ugh.
Baby fruit size? Onion - 5.1 inches
Maternity clothes? Same from last week. But I now own a Bridesmaid dress from the above wedding that the seamstress made to accommodate my growing waist line. ;)
Sleep? I've been trying to sleep earlier than I am used to so that I can get more than 7 hours at night. It's helped me to not feel so sleeping throughout the day. The bed is still delicious... so delicious Sonny and I are planning on buying another one to sleep on at my Mom's house.
Movement? I am ruling out gas for reals now. I can definitely tell the difference. During the NYE count down there was so much noise and dancing on my part that the baby just had to move along. I think we have a little break dancer in there. Baby loves the beats.
Food cravings? Sriracha, Tabasco and Cholula goes on everything. I eat a lot of fruits. I like fruits more than I like peanut better these days.
Exercise: Lots of walking this week around the neighborhood.
Best moment this week? We had our monthly appointment this week but was so bummed that we didn't get to see if we were having a boy or girl. But we did get to hear our baby's beautiful heart beat.
What I'm looking forward to? Our next doctor's appt. Seriously... this time we are gonna find out!

I'm Poppin' = 16 weeks

How far along? 16 weeks
Weight gain? Pretty excited to see all the holiday weight I gained at my next appointment. Not really.
Baby fruit size? Onion - 5.1 inches
Maternity clothes? Turned a pair of jeans into maternity pants. To my surprise they actually turned out pretty good and are so comfortable. Hopefully they will last me throughout the pregnancy.
Sleep? Got our new Tempurpedic king size bed and it is so delicious to sleep on. We also hooked ourselves up with some new king size pillows so now it feel like we are sleepin' on a cloud.
Movement? More fluttering... or gas. Who really knows.
Food cravings? Sriracha CRAZE is still going on and now I am really into Jamba Juice. I think its the tarty taste that I am diggin'.
Exercise: Hit up spin this week and got to the gym a few time to use the elliptical.
Best moment this week? Celebrating the holidays with our family being pregnant. Our family is so excited for us and I love all the attention this little one is already getting. I feel so blessed!
What I'm looking forward to? Our next doctor's appt. I really want to know already what we are having. The suspense is killin' me!!! :)

15 Weeks & Growing

How far along? 15 weeks
Weight gain? 3 lbs
Baby fruit size? Navel Orange - 4 inches
Maternity clothes? I've been just sticking to my regular leggings and sweaters. Last night I randomly went to F21 and they had all their maternity jeans on sale so I bought me a few pairs. Whoot!
Sleep? Sleep is so much better with my ginormous body pillow. The only problem now is that it's like another person sleeping with us and Sonny is falling off our bed. Poor Sonny! We've decided to to take the plunge and get a brand new Tempurpedic king size bed! It's being delivered as I blog and I am so excited!
Symptoms? NO MORE MORNING SICKNESS... AFTERNOON SICKNESS... OR EVENING SICKESS!! We are all done with that wackness. I still have to go to the bathroom 3x at night but I'm getting used to it now.
Movement? Still feeling the fluttering. Gas or baby... still don't really know.
Food cravings? SRIRCHA MANIA!
Exercise: I caught a cold at the beginning of the week and it killed my workout routine. I did manage to fit in a few long hour walks in the evening but nothing too crazy. Hopefully next week will be better.
Best moment this week? Took my first preggo pic and it still hasn't confirmed the fact that I'm preggo. Every morning while I'm scavenging for something to wear I look at my new body and still can't believe all the changes.
What I'm looking forward to? Got an appointment scheduled for the 30th. I'll be almost 18 weeks by then so I'm hoping to find out if our little baby is a girl or boy!

Its so hard to believe it. Even now after 5 positive home pregnancy test and a positive test from the doctors office, its a little bit surreal. Sonny and I are pregnant!

I'm so overwhelmed with emotion. It is so hard to believe its happening and there's LIFE growing INSIDE ME. Its hard to tell if the butterfly flutters I feel are the baby or my nerves. I am sure it will all sink in soon.

I'll try my best to post my weekly baby haps on here. So far I like the idea of posting at-a-glance summaries of my week. So here goes my first one.

Hello World! Baby Cruz due June 2012

How far along? 14 weeks
Weight gain? 3 lbs
Baby fruit size? Lemon - 3.4 inches
Maternity clothes? I bought a pair of maternity stretchy waistband denim a few weeks ago and have been living in those, leggings and stretchy yoga pants. I need to invest in a few more stretch items but I should be good for now.
Sleep? For the past few nights I've been tossing and turning like a pancake trying to find the right position. I'm trying not to sleep on my back or tummy... it really is a challenge. Sonny bought me a body pillow a few weeks ago so that helps a lot. Though... it doesn't help that I wake up at least 3x to pee in the middle of the night.
Symptoms? The wave of nauseousness I was feeling in the beginning is slowing dying down. I do tend to still get my evening wave of yuck... but usually if I don't think about it I forget about it. This week I have experience some ligament pain. Its sorta shocked me at first because its not something you'd expect to know how its gonna feel.
Movement? From time to time I feel fluttering in my uterus. I'm hoping its more baby than it is gas.
Food cravings? SARACHA! ON! EVERYTHING! Its so unlike me... really it is!
Exercise: I was spinning religiously the first 2 month of the pregnancy. But for the time being spinning is on hiatus. We are using the extra money for the baby fund. For now I've been walking all over Pasadena and using our building's gym to get my daily dose.
Best moment this week? Making our BIG announcement to ALL our friends and family. It is so crazy how technology works these days. I posted at 9:30am on Facebook Sunday morning and within 3 minutes we had over 20 thoughtful comments from our friends and family. By the end of the day we had over 100+ warm wishing! We are so happy to have made it through the 1st trimester and are ready to get the baby well on its way to a healthy delivery.
What I'm looking forward to? We have our 1st Trimester screening tomorrow and hoping all checks out a-ok!
Milestone: From our last appointment, Baby Cruz is growing big and strong with a beautiful heartbeat @ 162. Developmentally, Doc says we are looking good! :) :) :) :)

Thanksgiving is coming up this week and I have been bugging my Mom to cook all our childhood favorites instead of the usual turkey and roast. I think she's going to pull through and make her awesome meatloaf and pork chops! Sonny and I will be making our yummy potato au gratin and my sister is going to make some delicious pies! It should be a very tummy fillin' day.

Food Fridays: Brown Rice Crisp Treats

Ever since I burned RICE CRISPY TREATS a few weeks ago, I've been cravin' them so bad. How sad was I to see that they even put the recipe ON THE FRICKIN' BOX and I still managed to make the grossest batch of yuck! To redeem this horrible tragedy, I am hoping my fantastic husband makes these bad boys for me. *hint*

BROWN RICE CRISPIES - Makes one 8×8 pan
Adapted from Vanilla & Lace
You can find brown rice syrup at most health food stores. It is thicker than maple syrup, so the treats will stick together a little better. Maple syrup works well, but is thinner, so the treats are more fragile/crumbly. The dark chocolate lends a sharp contrast to the crisps, but milk chocolate would be a fine complement as well. The amount below gives a pretty sturdy chocolate layer, simply half it if you want something lighter.

1/3 Cup Creamy Almond Butter
1/3 Brown Rice Syrup (or Maple Syrup)
1 tsp. Real Vanilla Extract
3 Cups Crisped Brown Rice

7 oz. Good Quality, Dark Chocolate (I used Valrhona 71%)
1 Tbsp. Unsalted Butter

1. Using a double broiler method, set a glass bowl over a small pot of simmering water, making sure that the bowl is not touching the water. Put the almond butter, brown rice syrup and vanilla extract in the bowl and stir until everything is evenly incorporated. Remove from the heat to cool a minute.
2. Put the crisped rice in a large bowl and pour the almond butter mixture on top, mix thoroughly.
3. Coat the bottom and sides of a 8×8 glass pan with a light coat of desired neutral tasting oil (coconut, canola, grapeseed etc.). Pour the rice mix in and push it down with the back of a spoon. Put it in the fridge while you make the chocolate layer.
4. Clean the bowl from the almond butter mix, and set up the double broiler again. Add the pieces of chocolate to melt slowly, stirring occasionally. When the chocolate is melted, add the butter and stir. Pour the chocolate on top of the rice crisps and quickly spread it across the top with an offset spatula or back of a spoon in an even layer. Refrigerate for at least an hour and a half to set and cut them in to squares with a sharp knife. Keep stored in the fridge and try to eat them within two days as the rice starts to absorb moisture.

Sonny The Cook: Budget Eating

My darling husband has been cooking up a storm these days in attempts to save us a few bucks each month. In the month of February alone we spent almost $500+ just eating out!? $500 people!! And that doesn't even include the money wasted on grocery food we ended up throwing out because we weren't eating it. Sadness.

I've been reading more on how to budget our household and to keep our grocery spending to $200 a month. It's been a challenge but I am happy to report that March's grocery budget was a success! We lived off $200 a month, had brilliant lunches packed for work, and even lost a few pounds eating more proportionally balanced meals. And if you do the math it works out to be about $1.12 a meal. You really can't beat that.

Now you must be wondering why Sonny is doing the cooking and not me? Well, first of all Sonny is naturally just a talented culinary wonder. He has the patience to defrost, measure and calculate. I just want to eat, so most of the things I cook are pretty disgusting. I burnt RICE CRIPSY TREATS last week. Who does that?! We've agreed that he will cook and I will clean. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

I can't get more lazy than this... really. So I haven't been able to really bust out my camera at every waking moment like I was able to in my "Heavenly Weekend" post. So in my previous post I mentioned I celebrated an engaged over the weekend. Well here are the amazing photo booth pics we took to capture the moment.

Jill is a sneaky little thing and already had a hunch that Jeff was going to propose. She didn't know when or how he was going to do it. All we needed to do was set up the scene. Weeks ago when Jill was planning her 30th celebration with wine tasting in Temecula I asked if I could help prepare a few decorations for the 2 bed room suite at Pechanga we got to party in after the tastings. I mentioned to Jeff that I could create an awesome background and we can do photobooth pics... hence the tissue backdrop monster was created. Jeff just took it one step further and decided to propose while we were snappin' pics!!

Heavenly Weekend: An Engagment

Another AMAZING weekend! Why you ask? Well besides celebrating one of my bestest friend's 30th birthday with wine tasting in Temecula... we celebrated a "surprise" engagment as well. What a wonderful way to celebrate your 30s!! I mean who would of thought you'd get boo's AND a ring?!

We love Jill + Jeff. Like LURVE them. They are such a fun couple to be around. Jill is so crazy and loud and Jeff is pretty much the opposite of that. So obvious it's been so fun watching them bloom into the couple they are today. The love they have for each other is so incredibly sweet. Every time I re-watch their engagement video I just wanna cry. *heart*

I love that all my friends are getting married this year. I am eager for my friends to experience the wedding madness. It makes me think about when Sonny and I got married. The planning was so stressful and crazy but when the day came.... it was just nothing I could even describe. The love you feel on your wedding day... knowing everyone is there for you and wishing you the best... its just priceless.

This weekend kinda was a blur. I guess that what happens when you are having fun...

There was a lot of celebrating, eating and drinking once again. I think most the partyin' was done on Saturday so that by Sunday I was worn to the bone. All I could muster up for activities involved the largest bowl of shaved iced and mango.

This year is the year most of my best friends turn 30. And this month is the first of many many celebrations throughout the year. I think I will channel 21 year old Carlene. Maybe she'll make an appearance post party so the hard drinking won't hurt so much. Then again.... I guess with age.... you live and you learn. I'll stick to clear liquor and carbo load asap. ;)

This pass weekend was BEAUTIFUL. With a high of 70 degrees, we were able to just hang outdoors and soak up the sun (comfortably).

I've been on this Yelp kick the past few weeks. Using my Yelp App to find all sorts of places to eat at and just hang. It's always a super plus if we find a place we can bring Britney along for the ride. Surprised to see all the dog friendly businesses in the city. So bare with me with all my happy puppy Britney pictures. She's kinda a camera whore.

So the laid back weekend consisted of long walks around the neighborhood, hiking with funny looking puppies, working out til my legs gave out (Thanks Bar Method) and of course EATING. I like the eating part the most. Hollur.

I Am Lazy

B is so excited its "Saturdaaaaaaaaaaay!"

And now its February and I blogged like twice in January. It seriously gets harder and harder to blog when you have so much to do. Actually I am lying because on Sunday, Sonny and I sat on our couch all day eating Popchips and bread sticks.... we are obviously proud of our self-proclaimed laziness. It's nice to not have a schedule. It's nice to not have to go out for anyone in particular. It's nice to chill in our pajamas all day.

So what's new or not so new in my "heavenly" life. Not much. Been working... NOT stressing about work. Hangin' with the homies and I started doing Bar Method which seems to be all the rage right now. I was a bit skeptical at first because when you watch the workouts on YouTube it doesn't look like much is going on. No sweating, no high jumping... basically no movement. But if you have taken a barre class then you know what I mean when I say... IT BURNS SO GOOD! I am not tootin' my horn and trying to say I have a smokin' bod after a month of "tuck, tuck, tuckin..." but I have to say that I am extremely tone in areas that I would never think of being toned in. I am also now extremely flexible. HA. I going to give Bar Method a few more months and see where that goes. So far I like it and Imma commit to the change.

Our new 2011 wall calendar.

I know I know... everyone says the same thing when the new year rolls in:

"Can you believe its already... 2011"
"Gonna start my resolutions... Again."
"Can't wait to start all over!"
"New Year... New Me"

I can happily say that I am all done with 2010 and ready for 2011. I am excited to see what the year will bring. Hopefully, with a lot of work on my part, it was be a very successful year full of love and happiness. Last year I made a resolution list and posted it here. I am extremely happy to share that I stuck to all my goals and even exceeding some of them. My resolution list this year will basically remain the same but I'll add a little more pizzaz!

Resolution #1: Watch My Diet
I've been eating healthy and feeling good. Why would I want to stop doing that?! I do wanna try cooking more healthy dishes at home and eating more "clean" and "vegan-like".

Resolution#2: Exercise everyday.
Another thing we all should do everyday. I have learned in 2010 that it doesn't matter how long or how much I was sweating during my exercise. As long as I was having fun and really enjoying myself I called it in as a win for the day.

Resolution #3: Clear the clutter!
Cleared the clutter all 2010 and my home has never been as clean and tidy. I love that our place looks and feels like a hotel. Displaying our favorite home accessories and clearing the crap outta the way. Clear home... clear mind.

Resolution #4: Learn something new!
I am determined to learn another language. Still have to think of the perfect language that would be more useful to me in my travels.

Resolution #5: Be greener.
Oh I killed this one in 2010. I used canvas totes every time I went to the store AND I recycled most of my cans, glass and paper. I know there is much, much, more I can do and I will be exploring more way to make that happen in 2011.

Resolution #7: Be financially fit.
I was really good in 2010. I got my sh*t together. Paid off bills. Saved more for the raining days and got my a** in gear for the the future.

Resolution #8: Travel.
2010 was the year of travel for us. I went to San Francisco, Vegas, Mexico, Canada 2x and Italy.
I know we have to save even more in 2011, but I am starting to plan local weekend trips around California. There is still so much we haven't seen. Plus Virgin American has some amazing deals here and there. I may take up a cheapo trip to Seattle or Boston for the weekend.

Resolution #9: More Reading... Less Watching.
This is gonna be a challenge for me because I'm not a reader and its so much easier to turn the tube on and watch some mindless show for 4 hours. One book a month is my goal!

Christmas In Canada

As planned all year, we spent Christmas in good ol' Canada with Sonny's family. And YES it was COLD... and YES I was freezing the entire time. The snow did make for a romantic backdrop to our first "White" Christmas together. So that made up for my freezing fingers and tap dancing teeth.

It was so nice to relax on our vacation with family and friends. Probably the best Christmas gift we could of spent on ourselves was the trip itself. We hung out most of the time indoors and of course hit up most of the malls to check out the Boxing Day Madness. Canadians know how to SHOP!

On Christmas Eve we had a low key night indoors with Sonny's parents and sisters. We spent the entire day cooking. My In-Laws should really open a restaurant! They love feeding people. I don't think Sonny and I have been so full all year. Good thing I brought my stretchy pants and sweaters to feed in.

This year we are going to be traveling to Toronto to celebrate the Holidays with Sonny's family. Since we have been together, we have yet to be with them. Sonny hasn't been home for Christmas in 7 years!! 7 years people! That's a long time!

In preparation for this snowy journey, I have been preparing myself for the worse. I mean seriously, the past few days in SoCal have been insanely warm. Like 80 degrees warm. I haven’t been in snow like weather in awhile and it doesn’t help that its been so warm here that I can can’t adjust properly. Just thinking of how cold I am going to be makes me wanna throw up.

I know we would be able to walk around Downtown like we did back in May. But hopefully we’ll still be able to venture out in the cold and I’ll be able to snap a few amazing snow pics this the one above. Til then I am just gonna pray a freak heat wave comes with us and melts all the snow and coldness!! :)

Italy Trip: Rome Part 3

The great thing about bloggin' about my trip, is that it has allowed me to really stretch out each post... AND give me some content for this sad, sad blog that I've been neglecting for a few months. Sorry.

So back to Rome. Did you know I celebrated my BIRTHDAY in ROME!!! How amazingly lucky was I? Let me tell you know that I am extremely spoiled and from now on I have to celebrate my birthday always in another country.

We didn't really plan anything extravagant because for pete's sake we were already in Italy. We enjoyed a few hours of sight seeing and shopping by the Spanish Steps and then leisurely made our way to a delightful dinner. Lots of carby goodness and alcohol was consumed that nightt which made it difficult for me to keep my head up at the table. Good thing the coffee in Italy is strong... so I was able to enjoy the rest of our night as we walked a long the streets of Rome.

It is so hard to go through vacation pictures. When you think you are done picking selects and deleting all the weird ones where my Dad has his eyes closed and mouth wide open, there's still more to go through. It doesn't help that ALL of us (Mom, Dad, Sister, Aunte, Husband and myself) had cameras. We looked super fobby with our camera straps wrapped around our necks and our trigger fingers stiff from taking so many damn pictures.

Being in Rome was probably my favorite part of the trip. I don't know if it was because it was the first city we visited and at the moment we jumped off the plane I was already impressed by the air quality... but I instantly fell in love.

I study so much Italian art during Art School that it is kinda a trip to see it in real life. Pictures really don't do any of it justice. My pictures will make you swoon a tad... but I promise when you are actually there you might just cry.

Italy Trip: Rome Part 1

Sorry blogger world for being so MIA for the entire month of September. It was an extremely busy month. We went to Italy, celebrated my 20+ birthday, celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary and moved to Pasadena. I am crazy, tired and I bit overwhelmed with the entire month.

And now here we are in October and I am barely getting used to the month. Halloween is coming up and I can't hardly wait for the major Holidays to hit. Life is flying by so fast....

Anyways I've been wanting to post some pics from our amazing vacation. Son and I were so fortunate to have a really good year to afford such a trip and to also be able to experience it with my family. It was a trip of a lifetime. Hopefully we'll be able to visit this beautiful place again.

The last time I watched RENT was in New York back when Joey Fatone played Mark Cohen. I was young, crazy and completely in love with *NSYNC and Joey Fatone. I waited after the show at the backstage door just to get a glimpse of Joey to take a quick snapshot. Oh and boy did I get a good shot. In that big crowd of other crazies, Joey spotted me. Our eyes locked and he smiled. My knees got weak and as I started to lift up my camera to snap the shot. He pointed out to me and winked.

I almost died right then and there. Our moment was almost over, what was I suppose to do again? Was I holding a camera to document this ultra lame event so I could show it to my children 20 years from now? So I could tell them of this life changing tale, as they roll their eyes at their lame mother. Shit! My camera! My picture!

Thank you Joey Fatone for making RENT so memorable for me. And now, thank you Neil Patrick Harris for directing this ultra all star cast and for making it just as awesome as it was the first time around for me. Please note that Vanessa Hudgens was kinda horrible. I would replace that mess quick. But Nicole Scherzinger... hmmmmm... damn..... she killed it as Maureen. AMAZING.

A-ha! I pulled a switch-a-roo on my favorite stalkers and went to Renegade on Saturday instead of Sunday. Sorry to disappoint, but I figured it would be best for me to play all day Saturday and work all day Sunday.

Wasn't Renegade a blast? Wasn't the weather just frickin' amazing! Most of the same vendors I've been seeing at the craft shows and some new favorites. I was really diggin' the outdoor location. Made for a very festive event! Too bad all the foodie trucks were out in Long Beach and Pasadena feeding the masses... I think that would of been the cherry on top of this fabulously fun event!

We attempted to hit up Balboa Island over the holiday weekend but we got discouraged by the traffic and lack of parking on the island. No matter, Newport is always a great place to just hang out and do our most favorite thing... SHOP!

I haven't been in this area since my days working at _______ and _______. Being so close to the beach you'd think I'd be bikini ready and tan all the time, but sadly the stress of working hindered me from doing anything that cool as well as sucked all the life out of me. Boo.

Dang my sister really gets to celebrate her 30th.... 3 weeks straight! If this is any indication on how her 30s are going be, then she's in for quite the decade.

We made our way to Chinatown... again to hang out at Mountain Bar and to partake in some late night Hip Hop karaoke. The whole concept is really just genius. I mean who doesn't like acting like a rap star for at least 3mins?! Nicole sure loved every moment of it. I didn't have the guts to get up there to "bust my flow" because really who wants to see me... or hear me even try to rap. BUT if there is an opening for "hype-man"... then clearly I'd be more in the runnings for that job!

First off.... I am a little late to send out all my love to my sister via Its Heavenly. Six days ago, my uniquely charming, spaz-tastic sister Nicole celebrated her 30th Birthday! Can you believe it.... 30! She doesn't even look 24 and she's 30!! Gotta love those Asian genes.

We actually celebrated her actual birthday in Pasadena with a beautiful dinner at Red, White and Bluezz, but opted to have a second celebration with our parents. Because really having 2 bday dinners is just way more fun! This second celebratory dinner at Gjelina was just sooo amazing.... too amazing for words. So as always, I'll just post pictures and let your mouths water. We actually ordered quite a bit of food... but since we were eating it... I didn't get to capture all the dishes! Sonny has been on this quest to find the BEST BURGER in LA. He has tried so many I think he's gonna turn into the beefy goodness very very soon! One of our favorites is the Umami Burger. Supposedly they use a very special ingredient... "the 5th taste". Sonny thinks its soy sauce and I kinda think he is on to something. I think my favorite thing about the Umami Burger is the cheese. They make it super cripsy... its pretty amazing!

I have this theory that you never really have experienced a city until you have actually walked the streets. I always find that you discover some very beautiful things when you just have some time to walk around. Being inspired by our trip to Toronto, Sonny and I decided to ride the Metro Gold and Red lines to get around. You'd be so surprise how many great locations and things you'll see off these amazing lines. Plus bonus... who knew you can get around in LA under $5 with NO TRAFFIC!

One of the highlights of our trip was getting to see Sonny's baby sister's school. Stephanie just finished her first year and man... she's going to be one amazingly talented designer when she's all done with this place. The Ontario College of Art and Design is right in the heart of downtown. Its wedged between The Art Gallery of Ontario and other beautiful museum. How can she NOT be inspired everyday!

Canada Trip: Smoke's Poutinerie

So I HAVE to just dedicate this post to our adventures of eating POUTINE. Us poor Americans can't experience the deliciousness of Poutine like the Canadians do. It is definitely a staple in their diets. I do believe, aside from bleeding Canadian Pride, Sonny bleeds Poutine. Seriously... it's kinda crazy.

So what is Poutine exactly?! Well its basically just french fries, cheese curds and gravy. That's it... gravy cheese fries! But is it just that... NO its much, much more! In the past years there has been some kind of craze for more elaborate Poutine that's sweepin' the Canadian nation. With the creation of Smoke's Poutinerie and Poutini's House of Poutine, this simple dish has been taken to another level. Heart attack status almost.... but dang... its so so goooood!

Canada Trip: The Distillery District

And after Kensington we were off... exploring more of the TDot. We barely... no wait... we didn't take our rental car anywhere. Chris insisted we go by foot, street car or subway everywhere. It was quite the adventure for us Angelenos who aren't accustomed to public transport. We are so spoiled having cars to zip quickly everywhere. To tell you the truth though, it was rather fun getting everywhere more economically and environmentally friendly.

Canadians are so NICE. Be safe AND considerate.

We made our way to The Distillery District, which is another historical gem in the city. Once a full on Whiskey and Vodak Distillery, it is now Canada's premier arts, culture and entertainment destination. A place brimming with creativity and creative people. If we HAD to move to Toronto... this is where I'd like to live.

Canada Trip: Kensington Market

I don't even really know how to present our trip. We saw so many amazing things and experienced Toronto in such a special way. We've been downtown numerous times in the past. We usually just hit up all the hip commercial places and of course all the huge Canadian Malls. This time around we had our awesome guide, Chris, who is Sonny's bestest friend. Since Chris now lives downtown, he was able to show us around like a true Torontoian.

First stop was Kensington Market. Kensington Market is a distinctive multicultural neighborhood in downtown Toronto. The Market is an aged neigborhood that is pretty well known in the city. Lots of outdoor markets and produce. It was slowly getting busy as we made our way through the streets. My favorite part of our visit through Kensington was the apparent artist community that lived here. Lots of beautiful murals stained the sides of buildings. In recent years, the neighborhood has seen a small explosion of upscale cafés, restaurants and clubs. It is definitely a gem.

Canada Trip: Anna + Lann's Wedding

Sonny and I just recently returned from a quick vacation to visit our family in Toronto. Sonny's sister, Anna is getting married in the Dominican Republic this summer but before she leaves a Civil Ceremony was a must...

I'm back! Again, so sorry for the lack of Heavenly posts. I haven't been in the mood to blog and haven't had the need to share anything spectacular. Maybe now that its spring and the weather's getting so fresh I'll have more to write about.

Geez its been soooo long since I've updated. I am sure my Dad, who reads my blog off his iPhone is wondering what I have been up to since January!? Right Dad?

Well lots. Too much, that I can't even recap.

The only thing I really wanted to say today is... HAPPY BIRTHDAY SONNY!
You are the Hip to my Hop.... its you and me forever. Love you!

Man, this photo collage really makes my husband look like at total boozer when he really isn't one. He just loves living life and obviously he has his game face on at all time. (PSA: Don't drink and drive! And don't text and drive, as my Dad is so passionately advocating due to watching too much Oprah.) This weekend we will be celebrating Sonny's 31st Bday with some good friends by stuffing ourselves with Korean BBQ and drinking Soju til we can't feel our faces. Always promising good times ahead.

Anyways... I hope everyone is happy, healthy and of course heavenly!

Heavenly Weekend: Living Life

I haven't done a "Heavenly Weekend" post in such a long time! Bad Blogger! No more excuses.. its time to get serious. :)

This past weekend we celebrated life and love. First off was Reydon's big 34th Bday at Honda Ya! Still can't believe I've known this guy for so long. We all had a great time eating and just hanging out. I am still convinced that Rey doesn't look a day over 25. Must be all that Dragon Boating... ;)

Its already been a YEAR that our fav couple tied the knot! Congrats again you two!

Our first wedding for the year... Katrina and Tan. These two have been dating for 10 years!! So to our relief they FINALLY tied the knot! Thankfully it didn't rain... we were kinda worried for a minute considering it was raining/hailing all week. The sun came out just in time. Katrina looked stunning and well Tan was just extremely happy to be marrying the girl he met while working out at the UCI gym. Holla.

My Mom, My Hero!

Over the weekend my Mom ran her very first half marathon. She has been training for the past few months and well... we can all say she survived and is now officially a runner! If only I can run a mile under 10mins. That would be an accomplishment... :) Go Momma!

Can you believe its already 2010!? Its really hard to believe that an entire year has already gone by. I had a few resolutions last year that I actually was able to keep! I hope this year I am just as stubborn with keeping to them. This year is going to be a good one... I can feel it.

Resolution #1: Watch My Diet
I think everyone and their moms puts this resolution on their list. Its the #1 reason the gyms are packed to the walls every year. All that over indulging over the holidays sometimes gets some of us in trouble. Since September, I've been more aware of the things I consume and from that I've been able to drop a few pounds. I feel so much better about cutting some of my guilty pleasures out of my diet (my favs are like peanut butter, chocolate and bread). There is nothing really better than being able to zip up the skinny jeans without the muffin top!

Resolution #2: Clear the clutter!
I am already such a OCD freak. But I know there are boxes in the garage and in storage that need some sorting. Sometimes we hang on to things that we have no use for anymore and it just creates so much clutter. Sonny and I sometimes catch that show Hoarders on A&E.... and well if you've seen it then you know how disgusted you are by some of these people.

Resolution#3: Exercise everyday.
Sometimes its hard to make it to the gym, especially after work. But now that I work for a company that has a gym I really have no excuse not to even do 30mins on the Treadmill. Also this year I have promised Sonny that I would join him Dragon Boating. I already went this past Saturday... and well I was sore for 2 days. Gotta work up the endurance and strength!

Resolution #4: Learn something new!
I've been itching to learn something new! I don't know what yet.... Maybe learn how to play a cool instrument or speak another language. I gotta figure it out... and of course you know I'll be blogging about it!

Resolution #5: Volunteer.
Disney has got a great campaign this year about volunteering. It makes me wanna go out there and find something wonderful to do with my free time. My work even gives us 2 paid days to volunteer and I have yet to use mine! *tisk tisk*

Resolution #6: Be greener.
I think I'll start by actually using all those canvas totes I've got laying around the house. Seriously its kinda insane how many we have. That... and I'd like to compost.

Resolution #7: Be financially fit.
I just gotta save more for the future. The more and more Sonny and I talk about the things we'd like to accomplish in the next few years the more I've realized that shopping sprees and over indulgent weekends just creates road blocks for us. Can't lie though... sometimes its hard to say no to all those Gilt Group emails I get every morning! But I must resist...

Resolution #8: Travel.
Son and I didn't do much traveling last year. So this year we are determined to see the world. We've got a Mexican Cruise coming up in February and Sonny's sister's destination wedding in the Dominican Republic in June! Next up is Europe in the Fall... just gotta coordinate with our travel agent and that will be good to go!!

I think that's a pretty decent list of goals for 2010! Kinda do-able in a not so scary way.

Christmas is finally here. We are baking and cooking all the goodies for tonight's Xmas Eve feast! Before I forget to post because you all know what I stacker I am, here's our 2009 Xmas card. Son and I haven't sent one "together" before (we missed out last year due to us sending out our late wedding thank you notes) and the response back from people was overwhelming. We got soooooo many Xmas cards in our mailbox... our mailbox almost exploded! Loved each and every holiday greeting from everyone! AND it was really nice to actually use the extensive excel worksheet of addresses I created for the wedding again.

Feelin' The Holidays

Thanks to Nicole, she once again got us into Disneyland to get us into the Christmas spirit. I swear, I must have posted us going to Disneyland/World so many times on this blog! See here, here, here and here.

The entire night was magical, fun and wintery. The older we get, we don't really find joy in riding the rides. But the one true attraction that we all still enjoy is Small World. They change it up for Christmas, so instead of the crazy dolls singing "Small World" .... they sing a most festive jingle collabration of the best holiday jams. Over and over again. Cheesey as it maybe... I quite enjoy it all and take in all the memories our family has made within the park.

Being Thankful

If I had more time given to me I probably would of made this ridiculously cute outfit for all 4 of my dogs. But unfortunately I've been preoccupied and the fun stuff has been pushed aside. So please excuse this adorable stock photo.

This year has been quite the year. So much to be thankful for that I don't even know where to start. There are the obviously things I am thankful for, like my wonderful family and friends, and there are some dark moments I am not so much thankful for but thankful to have overcome.

As Thanksgiving is a gateway to the festive holiday season of love, there is much to reflect on. In our world that sometimes doesn't make sense, were so much doesn't seem fair and we see many of our own struggling to make ends meet, I am hopeful that there are better days ahead and there is still much to be grateful for.

I wish all of you a very safe and happy Thanksgiving. I hope you all have at least one thing to be thankful for and spend time with those you love the most!

Our beloved Tita Tina passed away Tuesday night. Our hearts are full of sadness but we are comforted in knowing that she is no longer suffering and is now watching over all of us.

I still remember the first time I met her. It was Christmas Eve and my Dad felt it was time to introduce her to us as his girlfriend. Nicole and I already knew even before meeting her that we would love her. We just knew it.... and we were right. Tina and Dad had already some past history and their reconnection only made it more romantic. The moment she came over to me to introduce herself that evening, she wrapped her arms around me and gave me the warmest hug. I knew right then and there she was perfect for my Dad. She was perfect for us.

I will never forget her love. Her sweet smile that would greet us into her home. Even when the cancer took over her body, and she spent her entire day in bed, she would still smile and laugh with us when we came to visit. It just felt so good to be in her presence because the love that came from her even in her weakest moments burned into our hearts and souls.

Tita Tina, we miss you so much. I can't explain how much you mean to me. Even if I didn't say it enough or even showed you how much I cared. I did. You were the best thing that came into our lives and I will never get to tell you enough how much we all loved you. Until we meet again...

Our First Anniversary

Today Sonny and I celebrate our FIRST anniversary! I still can't believe a whole year has already past us. It seems like we got married only weeks ago. I guess the newly wed dust is somewhat still sprinkled on us. I went through all our photos from our day again and got all emotional. I mean seriously who doesn't go spastic looking at wedding photos?!

The year in review for us has had its highest of highs and lowest of lows. We had definitely learn much from each other and what our marriage means to us. It is beyond a relationship that can be define by words and if actions merit our love we have for each other than I would think we both get gold stars! I can't wait see what our next year will bring...

This post is a little late due to very very busy month. Just so many things have been going on that my blog has gotten a little neglected.

To celebrate my birthday last week, Sonny and I drove out to Palm Springs for a little getaway. Let me just say the heat out in the high desert was just way too much for us to handle. We ended up staying indoors or really close to the pool. All in all a great weekend! And of course a girl can't head out there with out a stop to go outlet shopping. Happy Birthday to me!

Playing With Flowers Part 2

Helped out with my friend Tracey over at The Flower Tray again with her flowers. You really can never get enough of spending time in a room full of beautiful flowers no matter how hot the room can get. This time she was creating arrangements for her work friend's wedding who loves everything about nature. With that Tracey worked with a pallete of greens, browns and creams (kinda my own wedding). Tracey used lots of roses and freesias... it was simple and traditional.

My friend Daisy, texted me at 5am yesterday morning to tell me she had her second bundle of joy. World, this is Matthew Ethan. Can you believe this guy is a whopping' 9 lbs 1oz of pure love! I can't even stand it... I wanna smoother him with kisses! If he doesn't make your heart (or uterus) throb to have one of these, you are just bonkers!

Celebrating Life

My find myself a little lost for words putting together my weekend post tonight. Many of you already know I am not much of a writer and tend to just post pictures instead of writing out horrid sentences. But in this case I find myself reflecting my own life in seeing someone elses who is filled with so much love and hope. Please bear with as my heart is pounding so loud I can't even hear my own thoughts. I am writing this for my Dad and his beloved, Tina.

This summer has been a tough one for Tita Tina as she spent countless months in the hospital being misdiagnosed only to find out that she has stage IV Pancreatic Cancer. The news has been devastating to all of us and even more to my Dad. We are all praying for a miracle.

In hopes to lift all our spirits, my Dad planned an extraordinary party for her birthday. He transformed her entire house into a tropical oasis. It was beautiful and Tita Tina loved all the special details planned for the evening. We paid tribute to her exceptional life with all her nearest and dearest friends and relatives. Some of which traveled all the way from Hawaii to be with her. The night was filled with lots of love, laughter and of course Illocano songs.

For Mother's Day, my sister got my Mom Diana Krall tickets to use this past weekend. So of course Sonny and I tagged along to witness this beautiful talented songstress at the Hollywood Bowl. I've listened to all her albums over and over again...and I still can't believe her mad piano skills.

Spontaneous Weekend

This past weekend I was all over the place. On Friday I spent the night at my sister Nicole's house and crafted all night with her, Jillie and Aya. We had some delicious mini burgers and ate Froyo that reminded us of Dole Whip from Disneyland. I love girlie craft nights and hope to schedule more of them in the future.

On Saturday, Sonny and I made our way down to San Diego for a spontaneous trip to watch Katchafire at Canes. I've never really knew how big the Island Reggae scene was til we got there. It was a really great show and I have to say I have a few new crushes on a few lead singers. :) Check out the YouTube Vid... you'll know what I am talking about. Hahaha

On Sunday I woke up to the smell of Sonny's cooking! I couldn't believe it! It was such an awesome spread of Baked Tomatoes, Yellow Chicken Curry, and Garlic Naan. I was in heaven.

This past weekend I hung out with my dear friend Tracey who is a talented Floral Designer. She has done many of the weddings I've recently attended as well as designed the personal flowers used during my wedding. Any time I have a question about flowers I turn to her for her genius and expertise.

I designed her website, The Flower Tray, about a year ago and being that I am such a blogger I've been buggin' her to start a blog. She finally said "yes" so I promised her I'd take all the pictures and even spend some time helping her out. This featured wedding was for a mutual friend of ours who had a tropical theme. Pretty!

This little guy is Tracey's puppy. Isn't he just the cutest!

Wow what a weekend! We have been just so extremely busy that I haven't had the time to blog or twitter much. I haven't even had the chance to announce the winner of my giveaway! Please bare with me all as I am just trying to catch up from this past weekend.

Remember how Sonny has been Dragon Boating for the past 2 months. Well this past weekend was well worth all the hardcore training. The Dragon Boat Festival was a success and the Killer Guppies did pretty darn good. Sonny is enjoying this competitive streak and can't wait for the next race up in San Francisco at the end of September. Can you believe it... Sonny is playin' team sports and lovin' every minute of it. I am so happy to be his cheerleader through all this. Seeing him having so much fun almost makes me wanna join. Almost.

I think being the Athlete's Wife is good enough for me right now. There is a lot that goes along with this role. I don't know how Vanessa Bryant does it... but I don't mind it one bit!

We hit up the OC fair tonight and I just had so much fun I had to post these pictures as soon as I got home. I hope you all had a fabulous week and an even more fabulous weekend. I kinda have been a bad blogger lately. I haven't had the time to post daily but I figured most of my readers are off on wild summer adventures to noticed my lack of postin'.

I haven't been to the fair in a few years and I felt like I have been missing out. I think its a good thing, to be missing out, because as we drove into the parking lot I felt an excitement I haven't felt in a long while. The bright colored lights and the smell of fried goodies hit us hard the second we opened the car door. I couldn't even decide what to do first. Food? Maybe a quick walk through the home shopping arena? A quick ride down the slide?

As you can see we ended up doing it all. Hopefully we'll hit up the OC Fair before it ends. But if we miss out on a second run we'll just hit up the LA Fair!! The summer is flying by... I just gotta soak it all in!

What a weekend! I am sure you all know by now what I've been up to these past weekends. Sonny and I had this realization that this has probably been the best summer we've had together, filled with lots of stay-cations! With lots of things to do and the Californian sun you really can't go wrong.

Also you may have noticed my photography style has changed a tad. I've been telling myself to suck it up and just lug the humongous digital SLR around. I bought a really awesome vintage seat belt camera strap at the Renegade Craft Fair that is much longer and allows me to strap it across my body which makes for a more comfortable tote-along. Sonny has been giving me photography pointers to "catch the light" so hopefully as time goes on, I will master my camera and showcase some masterpieces! Til then you'll just have to settle with my lovely shots of my pups!

So back to my weekend. Played with my camera, hit up a pool party, celebrated a birthday, and played on the beach. Sonny and I just finished watching Harry Potter.... and all I can say is... DANG! I am now going to spend the rest of my weekend reading these books. I've never read one and never had the urge to read them til now. It was that good!

I love that her beau is Sonny and he is a bunny.... Kinda like my own funny Sonny hunny bunny! I hope you all didn't just throw up. :)

We haven't really planning any summer vacations due to work and us not really having many paid vacation days to enjoy. But to enjoy the rest of the summer I have planned fun filled weekends until October which I am extremely excited about. Talk about "working for the weekend".
